Kidnapping and abductions are considered America’s Silent Mass Disaster. The data and statistics on kidnapping, abduction, and human trafficking is horrifying – 600,000 people go missing every year in the USA1. While some of these people are found alive and well and not attributed to kidnapping or abduction, tens of thousands are never found. In some cases, bodies are found but unable to be identified. On average, 4,400 unidentified bodies are found each year in the US, and after one year, 1,000 bodies remain unidentified.
According to the FBI, Over 460,000 children go missing each year. Around 5,000 of those missing children were kidnapped. Girls ages 12-17 are the most common victims of abductions. Kids must learn how to protect themselves and understand situational awareness to help prevent such situations from occurring.
